Early 20th-century "Race's" Life Preserver

This vintage life ring is among John Derian's trove of handpicked vintage & antique goods. Handpainted for a private vessel in Euclin, Ohio these preservers were historically used aboard ships from the late 19th to mid-20th century, and were typically made of buoyant cork or kapok encased in painted canvas, with natural fiber ropes.
